Selectmen's Minutes 6/5/07
The weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Tuesday evening, June 5, 2007 at 7:30 p.m.

 

Present:             Theresa McNulty, Chairman; David L. Walsh, Clerk; Peter Hamilton

George Samia, Town Administrator;

Catherine Johnson, Senior Clerk

 

Joint Meeting

 

A joint meeting with the Planning Board was held to jointly appoint David Botelho as a permanent member.

 

M/Walsh, s/Belcher, a unanimous vote, appoint David Botelho as a permanent member of the Planning Board.

VOTE: Yes – McNulty, Walsh, Hamilton, Belcher, Smith, Snow, Morris; a unanimous  vote in favor.

 

Maryann Roan, a teacher at the Middle School, was present to announce the 4th grade Bike Day on Friday, June 8, 2007.

M/Walsh, s/Hamilton, vote to approve the minutes of the May 22, 2007 meeting.

M/Walsh, s/Hamilton, vote to approve the minutes of the May 29, 2007 meeting.

Abstain: Walsh

 

M/Walsh, s/Hamilton, a unanimous vote, approve, with discussion with John Haines, DPW Director, the request of Deborah Mascuilli, of District 22-5 Lions, for use of Sachem Rock Farm on July 28, 2007, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a Family Fun Day and Cookout for handicapped children and their families.

 

M/Walsh, s/Hamilton, a unanimous vote, approve the request of Scott Allen of the E.B. Community Drug Council for use of the Town Common on June 20, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., for a Summer Concert on the Common.

 

M/Walsh, s/Hamilton, a unanimous vote, approve the endorsement of the Quitclaim Deed and Drainage Easement Agreement on Stonegate Drive and Rockmeadow Drive, which were accepted at Town Meeting on May 14, 2007.

 

Reminder

 

Board/Committee vacancies – (1) Library Trustee and (1) Finance Committee member, letters of interest to be submitted to the Selectmen’s office by the end of June.

A discussion was held in reference to a letter from a citizen with a dog complaint.  Mr. Walsh instructed the office to set up a Hearing on Dog Bylaw violation and send out notices to the concerned citizen, the dog owner, the Dog Officer and the Police Chief.

 

Appointment

 

DPW Director, John Haines, Tom Reynolds, DPW Operations Manager and Steve Alcott, of Alcott & Associates were present to discuss the water rates and results of the Water Study performed by Mr. Alcott.

 

A lengthy discussion was held on projected water rate figures.

Town Administrator Report

 

Mr. Samia reported on contacting Representative Allen McCarthy to set up a meeting in the near future to discuss the Brockton Power Company, LLC Plant.

 

Open Forum

 

No one present

 

M/Walsh, s/Hamilton, move to close Open Session and go into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing contract negotiations and personnel issues and will not be returning to Open Session.

VOTE: Yes – McNulty, Walsh, Hamilton; a unanimous vote in favor.
